The Illusion of One

The Illusion of One

I feel apart from you.

You probably feel you are spinning through space alone.

Even in the midst of six billion other people,
Most of us feel we are alone.

The illusion of being apart is on purpose.

We decided to come here to be by ourselves.

After an eternity before this life spent with everyone who every is, was or will be,
After knowing everything there was to be known,
And sharing our ideas, thoughts, feelings and inspiration
With everyone.

Then we realized there was more to know.

We discovered there was a way to learn more,
To be more,
To truly explore what it means to be one,
By coming here alone.

We decided to leave the place where everyone knew
Everyone else, and there were no strangers.

We knew we could learn more apart, even though we are all still connected by that same, safe, Bright Space.

I'll be going back there someday, to reveal all I have learned.

You'll go back there someday, too, so we can all enjoy the things you've learned on your journey.

As this universe experiences itself in the unique way only you can experience,
The knowledge grows.
The insight grows.

We will find out all there is to know, and then perhaps
We may be at peace.

Until then, we spin in our own orbit,
Supposing we are separate.
Thinking we have never met that person we see on the street.

Thinking we are strangers walking among other strangers, never realizing we have all met before.
Not just the people in our neighborhood.
Or our friends.

But we have met every person who lives now,
Who has ever lived
Or who will ever live.

We spent an eternity together before this day.

We will spend an eternity together after this life.

What a great reunion awaits us,

The illusion of being separate will vanish
As we recognize each other again.

We will wonder how we walked alone
When our friends walked all around us.

Together Again by Dane Allred

Bright Space
by Dane Allred

Together Again
I am a stranger here.
Here to observe,
To Learn,
To live.

You may feel like a stranger here, too.

We are the outsiders,
Here from another place.

We were together before this time,
In the bright space.

We travel in this new place,
Unknown to each other,
Struggling in a strange new place
Waiting to make that connection
With someone we knew before.

But the best news is we knew everyone before.
Everyone who has ever lived,
Everyone who lives now,
And everyone who will ever live.

In the Bright Space,
We waited for the opportunity to be more
To do more,
To find out all there is to know,
As this universe experiences itself
Through you and through me.

When we are done with what we can learn here,
We will be together again,
And share all that we have learned.

There is such diversity in our world.
An incredible variety of things, places,
People, and other creatures to be experienced.
One of us could not do a part of it in our lifetime.

In such a world of abundance and wonder
There are so many things to do and find.
But in the rush to do,
We must also be.
We must be there for others
Who are waiting for that helping hand from us.
Who are waiting for that spark from us
That completes the circle
From when we first met,
To today, when we meet again.

Be the bright space.
Be present for that next time
Our paths cross.

Not for the first time,
And certainly not for the last time.

Be conscious of those around us
Not walking with our eyes closed,
Unconscious of others moving through the same space as you and I.

We knew each other before.
We know each other still.
We only need to reach out and make that
Reconnection.

You know that feeling.
You've met before.
You are only meeting again.

Now, there are no strangers here.
We are together once again.

Our Journey

I hope you are finding out those things you were sent here to discover,
Achieving those things only you can do,
Finding those opportunities to reconnect with everyone in this world,
Who was with us in the Bright Space.

We were sent here to learn all there is to know,
To return and complete the knowledge we sought
When we left the Bright Space.

We knew we could only learn these things
Alone and apart from each other here on a spinning planet.
We had to leave the perfect peace of the Bright Space to find the answers
This universe is seeking
By manifesting itself in you and me.

Your life is so different from mine,
Even though we seem to spin in the same orbits,
Doing similar things,
Finding similar answers
Reaching similar conclusions.

But you are a unique expression of how this universe wants to learn.
Your experiences add to the combined experiences of all who have ever lived,
Are living now,
And are yet to live.

When that reunion of all of us in the Bright Space takes place,
What a wonderful gathering it will be.

We will understand how our experiences
And the experiences of others
Have fulfilled our wish to know all there is to know.
To experience those things only we could experience
In a way only we could understand.

We are reminded of that elusive goal every time we meet someone,
Who we are sure we have already met.

We were together in the Bright Space before this life,
And the promises we made to each other are fulfilled on those days
When we reach out to that other person,
Reminded of how important this life really is,
Reminded of how important that other person really is,
Reminded that we have a work to do that only we can do;
We glimpse the majesty of this work,
To bring us together again in that Bright Space,

Together, we can see into the future of our universe.

Bright Space

Diversity

by Dane Allred

When the universe wanted to find out all there was to know
It created you and me.

In the Bright Space we all enjoyed each other’s company,
Celebrating the unlimited number of ways
This universe wanted to discover
All there was to know.

Even when you and I
Experience the same thing,
We experience it in completely different ways.
We can try to explain to someone else
What we have seen and felt
And another person would explain
The same experience
In a completely different way.

But the opposite is also true.

When we are gathered together
United for a purpose
With hundreds or thousands
Of different people
All desiring the same goal,
The same unity,
We are feeling a part of that oneness
We once felt in the Bright Space.

Though we are diverse individuals
With different backgrounds,
Preferences, desires and goals,
At that one moment,
During that one time we are gathered
Together
We feel as one
We shout as one
We act as one.

What a great mystery to be contemplated.
We are apart
And yet we can be one.

It’s that same feeling we get
When we meet someone new,
But they really aren’t new to us
Because we were together before
In the Bright Space.

There is that spark of recognition
That feeling of familiarity
That feeling of oneness
Even though we are quite different
From one another.

While we spin in our own spheres
On this world
Spinning through space
At unbelievable speeds,
We take the time to know others
To help others
To seek that purpose for which
We were sent here.

To experience what this life will offer us,
And experience all the others we will ever meet
As we travel on our voyage.

Someday, when we have experienced
All this life has to offer,
We will return to the Bright Space
The place that is no place
Where there is no here and then
But only now
And we celebrate our oneness and diversity.

Compassion
by Dane Allred

We have all met before.

We were in the Bright Space together before we were here.

Since you know everyone who has ever lived, or will live, or who lives now,
What excuse can we have not to have compassion for one another?

We are here to learn all we can about this experience,
And someday we will return and share our feelings, knowledge, and
This universe will know what it means to be rich or poor,
Oppressed or free,
Healthy or ill.

We will have experienced every kind of life there is to live.
But while we are here,
We only have enough love for those like us.
We don’t want to know about the others
Struggling against the evils of the world.

We don’t want to help those who need us
Because they are different than us.
We don’t want to know about the suffering
Going on all around us.
It might spoil our moment of happiness,
Or interrupt our regular routine.

The secret of those who are truly happy,
Is learning to enjoy a new routine involving someone else.

When we get outside ourselves,
And help those who need our help,
Direct those who need direction,
We will find new direction for ourselves,
And help for those problems we face.

Since we have always known each other,
There is no excuse for not reaching out,
For helping where we can,
Listening if that’s what is needed,
For doing those things for others
We wish they would do for us.

What is it that we are so afraid of?

Do we fear that connection we feel when we meet someone new,
Thinking there is something we recognize about that other person,
A familiarity we sense
A strange feeling we have met before.
A love we share
That we have shared before.

How can we not have compassion for
Someone we knew so long ago,
And have met again for the first time
In this life.

Reach out.
Find that friend again.

Betterment

by Dane Allred

Can’t we all be getting better all the time?

Does someone have to fail so I can succeed?

Does your world view include winners and losers;
Those who succeed and those who never had a chance?

It’s too bad we don’t remember more about the Bright Space.
That place we were, before we were here.

Remember?
I knew you, and everyone who has ever lived,
Or will ever live.

I recognize you, and feel that spark of familiarity
That feeling we have met before
That we spent time together in that wonderful light
Of the Bright Space.

We knew we needed to have a life of our own here.
It was the only way to learn all we needed to learn.
It was the way this universe would experience itself
Through you
And through me.

But now that we are here,
That veil of forgetfulness clouds our thinking,
And we imagine we are all separate,
Alone and away from each other,
Wandering in our own worlds.

There really is only this world.
This time when you and I happen to be here together.
We are here to succeed
To strive and to try,
To fail and get back up
And try again.

And we are here to help each other.

How sad this universe would be if there was just me
Or just you.

We would miss the chance to meet each other again
To struggle to remember how we know each other,
To try to remember we are here for each other
Because we are all trying to experience the world in
Our own way,
Get our own experience,
Find our own path,
And help complete this universe’s attempt to experience itself.

How can there be winners and losers when we are
All here on the same mission?

To find out all there is to know
To return and complete this circle of knowledge?

Maybe you are here to help me find my way.

Isn’t it great we are here together today?

Bright Space

Zeniths

by Dane Allred

You have something you need to accomplish.
You may even have a good idea what it is.

It may be something you have been working towards your whole life.

It may be something that only takes a few days to accomplish.

But whatever it is,
The world remains changed forever after.

You are here for a reason.
There is something you have to do.

What does it feel like when you have finally reached that point?

There is that sense of satisfaction,
The knowledge you have made a difference.

The incredible surety you feel that what you are doing is right,
And you are doing it for the right reason.

It is an incredible and satisfying feeling,
A kind of euphoria.

When you have reached the highest point
The zenith,
There may be half of the trip still in front of you.

The culmination of a lifetime of work
Isn’t the end.

There is always something after.

The relief of having accomplished what you intended to do.

But often the glow of success is often followed by a letdown.

We all have those zeniths in our life where an incredible rush of excitement is followed by the lull of what comes afterwards.

We were all together in the Bright Space before,
Heady with the excitement of this new adventure called life.

We came here to learn all we can learn,
To someday return to that Bright Space
And realize we have accomplished our purpose;
To know all there is to know.

I am here to help you reach that zenith.

You are here to help me accomplish what it is I need to do.

In a life filled with possibilities,
There are so many things to be done.
We are here to do them.
Maybe we will have many different kinds of zeniths in this life.

Now there are seven billion of us on this journey together.
There is nothing we cannot accomplish.

What can I do to help you reach your zenith?

Yesterday
by Dane Allred

Without a yesterday
There can be no today.

We are the sum of all the yesterdays.
All my yesterdays,
All your yesterdays,
All the last weeks, last months,
Last years and last centuries
That stretch back to the dawn of time itself.

When we wake to the world each day,
Those who went before creating the world
Give us our today.

Those future days depend on
What we do with our today.

What do we want to leave to those of us
Who will wake to another today?

This is the only day we have
Since we have spent our yesterdays
And can’t get to our tomorrows
Without going through today.

We have been given this gift called the present;
This day to wake, to work, to play.
This day to find our way to make a better today
For those of us here tomorrow.

We seek a way to make this world a better place
A place we want to awaken to tomorrow.

We want the best for ourselves and for others
Hoping for help along the hours
Looking for ways to help those seeking help.

What would we do this day?

Do as you would have done.

Do those things you would hope others would do
If given the same chance as you.

Brighten the day of someone else,
In the hope that someone will someday
Brighten your day.

Help those who need your help
In the hope that someone will someday
Give you the help you need.

Reach out to those who need comfort
In the hope to be comforted someday
When you are most in need of comfort.

Seek for that one looking for help.

Seek for those who can help you.

There really is no other journey
Than the one we make with each other.

Someone in a yesterday gave us this gift
We call the present.
This day we call today.

It is our day to do with what we will.

What will you do with today?

Walls

Walls can keep us in
Or shut us out.

We use walls to separate ourselves from others
When in truth we all share that common source.

The Bright Space where we all were once,
That place where I knew all there was to know about you,
And you knew all there was to know about me.

We knew everyone who has ever lived,
Who will ever live,
As well as we knew ourselves.

But then we realized there was more to us than that.
There was a something we were missing,
Hiding behind our wall of complacence
Knowing all there was to know.

We discovered we could learn more.
We could experience the universe by ourselves
Alone and away from each other
And the comfort we knew in each other’s company.

So we came here to experience this universe in our own way,
To add to the knowledge of all that has ever been
By finding our way through this solitary life.

We feel alone,
But it was meant for our paths to cross.

I am here to find my way,
But in finding that path,
I may also be here to help you find your way.

What a disappointment it is when we forget that past connection,
When we walk past each other every day
Wondering how to make this life better
And the answer is all around us.
We are here, but we are not alone.

When we reach out to each other,
There is that one instant of recognition
That spark of familiarity
That confirms the link with the time we spent together before this life.

Working together toward our future
We are finding all there is to know
In our own life,
Enriching the lives of others
And seeking that knowledge in perfect harmony
With this universe.

Reach out and break down that wall,
And help continue our search for all there is to know.

The answer is all around us.
We are here, but we are not alone.

Value

Why would we value one person above another?

They had a mother, a father who cared for them.
Who guided their path into this world.

They were born into this world with the same
Potential
Hopes
Fears
And anxieties as each of us.

But when someone falls short of what they want to be,
Or someone falls short of what we think they should be,
Then that judgment devalues the world.

When one of us is dimished,
Then the world must be diminished.

When we strike out with our anger,
Express our disappointment
Give up our goals of being better today
Than we were yesterday;
This universe suffers.

When we are less than we can be
The loss is evident not only to those around us,
But to the mass of humanity hoping for a better day
For a day when we will use all our potential
For the day when we will strike down our fears
And reach out to the others on this journey with us
And make their path a little easier
A little more friendly
A little more exciting
Because we are now on the path together.

Walking alone against the struggles we find in this world is the loneliest path.
But when we reach out and take another into our world
When we let them know they are not alone
Then the unity of two becomes unbreakable.

Then when the world walks in unity
There is nothing we cannot accomplish.

There are so many hungry to feed,
Sorrowful to comfort,
Lost to direct,
So many searching for a friendly face
To greet them.

They are not alone.

As we direct our attention outside ourselves,
The world will open up and reveal itself to us.

Look outside yourself today.
What is there that this life offers you
That one problem that grabs your attention
And demands action?

Look closely.
It is not work.

It is an opportunity to make this world the place you and I can make it.

Bright Space

Sharing
by Dane Allred

It takes a decision
To do something unselfish.

Giving of ourselves is a choice.
We are choosing to do something
For someone else when we could do something else.

Life is all about the choice.

We make one decision or another.

We don’t always know where the path will lead.
But helping someone else is almost never a bad decision.

One of the most sublime moments is when we can lose ourselves in the service of others.

When we get the chance to help others on their journey here
It’s part of our work as well as theirs.

We were once together in that Bright Space
Wondering what this place would be like
And if we would cross paths again.

We wanted to come here to experience our own life,
While all the world experiences their own reality.

But when we were together before,
We knew all there was to know
Sharing all knowledge and eternity.

But there came a time when we knew we would have to leave the Bright Space
And learn in the only way we could.

Apart and alone
Distant from those we once shared all with,
Wondering what that nagging familiarity really was,
When we see each other by chance.

Or is it by chance?

As the smallest particles of the universe spin
Influencing another small particle somewhere else
It is the same with us as we circle in the spheres
of human interaction
All around us.

My world intersects with yours
And your path crosses another.

Something you need to hear from someone else
May be waiting for you just around the next corner.

When we wander in this wonderful world.
Is it any coincidence we find those who
Think like us.
Act like we do.
Wonder like we do at the connection we feel from the first time we meet.

The first time we meet again for another time.

The next time that momentary recognition happens to you
Stop and help those we were with before.

Strength
by Dane Allred

What does it mean to be strong?
Are the strongest among us those who endure the most pain,
And those who are weakest are those who inflict pain on others?

We are told to be strong,
Face our fears,
Conquer our doubts,
Struggle through those difficult times
So we can find our strength on the other side of this problem or that.

There may be times when we are sure we have
No more strength to bear one more moment of
Challenge,
Heart-break,
Disappointment,
Discouragement,
Or pain.

But then we do survive that moment,
And we do emerge on the other side of that struggle
Stronger than we were before.

When we see then someone else struggling with those same problems,
We become their bridge to the other side.

We are here to help each other learn all we can
About this struggle called daily life.
You were put here for a purpose.
Perhaps to endure the pain
To help others on another day.

Perhaps to help others in another way
Unknown to you or anyone else
Until that moment appears.

We are learning all there is to know about
Pain,
Challenges,
Discouragement,
Disappointment,
And heart-break.
We are learning what it is to live in a world of
Happiness,
Joy,
Fulfillment,
Ecstasy,
Love,
Hope,
Inspiration
And astonishment.

We are the universe
Learning all there is to learn,
Sent here from the Bright Space
Where we once were all together,
Knowing all there was to know.

We knew coming here would involve
A separation,
The distinctness of being one,
Instead of feeling as one.

But as we learn of heartache and hope,
We expand the knowledge of the universe
Finding what it truly means to strive to
Become one
Even when we are many.

Thank you for the life you are living.
Through your experience,
When you reach out to me in a similar moment
And share your strength
We are one step closer
To being together again
In the brightness of being one.

Potential
by Dane Allred

You have unlimited potential.
As an intelligence, you have existed forever.
Deep down inside you know this to be true.

You were never created, but have always been.
We were in that Bright Space together,
Our experiences shared,
Knowing all there was to know.

We knew there was more possible.
There was more we could achieve.
But that meant leaving the Bright Space
And all that we had ever known.

That also meant we would forget
All that we had ever known.

We are here to learn all we can before
We return to the Bright Space.
We will all be together again.

But until then we are here to do something.
That thing you are here to do.

That inner potential you carry about with you,
That can help you accomplish
Those things you need to do.

The prospect of what will be lives in you.
We are pools of unlimited potential.

When we see all that is possible for ourselves,
When we consider all we could achieve,
There is that promising glint
Of what could be,
Of what might be.

Only you know what that is.

Watch for that spark of familiarity
Next time you seem to recognize someone.
That person you meet who it seems you have seen before.

The person who you seem to have met before.
Somewhere.
Someplace.

They may be here to help you accomplish that thing you need to do.
Or you may just be recognizing someone
You once knew from very long ago.

As the Universe shrinks,
And we find ourselves acquainted
With those we were with before,
The potential of the universe expands,
When we work together now to learn all there is to learn.

When we are all together again in that Bright Space,
We will share all we have come to know
As only we could know
As we live our own individual lives,
Apart, and yet connected with all the power of the Universe.

There is nothing we cannot accomplish together.

Bright Space

Obstacles
by Dane Allred

Why are there so many obstacles?
If life was easy, would we value all the experiences we have had in life?
We can only grow and achieve if we are challenged.

But there is a reason we are here.
There is something we are to do today,
This week,
This month,
This year.
This lifetime.

You may think you don’t know what it is,
But it floats in your mind and pesters you until you do what you know you need to do.
It’s not always what we want to do.

We are given a lifetime of opportunities to live purposefully.
When we choose one thing or another,
We are navigating our purpose here by our choices.

Some of us have many more opportunities than others,
But that shouldn’t stop us from making the difference we can make.

When we keep the positive uppermost in our thoughts and actions,
We will see results.
They may not be the results we want,
But we also learn every time we fail.
In this world of abundance,
We’ll know better how to accomplish what are striving for the next time we are given an opportunity.

We can have a purpose and also live on purpose.

When we live life on purpose, knowing what we want to achieve,
We have more than a goal.
We have massed the forces of the universe behind our intention
And we will reach it.
Or we won’t.

But then there will be another choice for us to make.
And when we listen to the cacophony of negativity
It is easy to get discouraged.

Are we looking to help those who need our help,
Or do we selfishly think only of ourselves?

Do we let the weight of trouble in the world
Stop us from accomplishing what we can
While we can?

Obstacles are put in our way to help us learn to navigate life.
We were all together once in the Bright Space,
And together, there is nothing we cannot achieve.

Bright Space

Nature
by Dane Allred

Surrounded by the natural world
It is easy to feel how connected we all are.

Something about the gentle breeze in the tree
Which selects one single leaf to move
Makes me think the tree is waving to me.
A greeting to acknowledge my presence.
A reminder we are all part of an incredible world.

When that light from the Bright Space
Shines through to me from nature
It reminds me I need to remember
We were all together once in the Bright Space
And the light of every person reflects back
That peaceful calm we all felt there.

There are some in turmoil.
Often there are people in trouble.
Too often, someone is being hurt at the hands of another.

But we were all together in that Bright Space.
If you look closely, you’ll see that spark we all share.

When we combine our talents,
Our energies,
Our focus,
We can accomplish anything we want to do.

When negativity clouds our purpose,
When we forget the closeness we can share,
We neglect our purpose here.

We came here to learn all we could.
We are here to do something only we can do.

You can do that thing you are sent here to do.
Only you can do it.
I am here to help.
Others are here to help.
But only you can accomplish your purpose.

When we consider all those around us
All that surrounds us
In the natural world speaks to us
Encourages us
Supports us.

Nature serves as a reminder of that Bright Space
A day separated by the night,
The sun’s rays to spur our growth.
The promise of a seed
With the potential to become something more.

We are the seed planted here
At this time
At this place
To grow to our own potential
To accomplish all we are meant to do

And when we return to that Bright Space
We will be able to share all we have learned,
Knowing all there is to know.

Bright Space

Challenges
by Dane Allred

When we face the challenges of living in this complicated world
There are times we get discouraged

Facing the choices of each day
Thinking we are alone can make the smallest of decisions
Overwhelming

When we wonder what to do
When we try to decide between
This and that

We need to remember that we were all once together
In that Bright Space

Where we knew all there was to know
In perfect harmony

But then we realized
We could know more
Be more
If we came here to experience
This life of ours.

We are learning how to deal with our challenges
One day at a time.

But there are kindred souls on this journey with us
All those who were with us in the Bright Space
Here to help us remember
Why we are here
What we are here to learn
So when we return to the Bright Space
To share all we have experienced

Our challenges are our special challenges
Meant just for us
Just the kind of challenge we were sent here to face
In a way that only we could.

But we don’t have to face it alone.

Look around.
There are people everywhere who are ready to help
Those people who were with us in the Bright Space.
Who are ready to help us learn all that we can learn.

It happens when that person we just met
Seems to be someone we have known forever

It happens when that certain thing happens
Which couldn’t happen

When that intersection of my world and your world
Collide.

Pay attention so you don’t miss that one person
That one situation meant to help you along the way.

Then you will be able to accomplish those things your were meant to do
Those things you are here to do

Let’s watch for each other
And when we recognize that light we once shared
We can help each other
Accomplish all that we need to do.

What will we accomplish together?

Bright Space

by Dane Allred

Light

There is light and darkness
Joy and suffering
Life and death

And so many opportunities to experience the extremes in this life.

As we journey along the path our life leads us
Wondering what each day will bring
We rejoice at the times our lives are filled with light
Remembering what happiness the glow can bring us
And how it makes us filled with light

It makes us feel light
And we want to hold onto that feeling forever

There is a reason we love the light
And fight against the darkness
There is a reason we are drawn to the light
Dancing like moths before a flame
Trying to reach the light
Hoping to become the light
Wondering how something so glorious
Could exist.

We are light.

We were in the Bright Space together
And knew the joy of the light
It filled us and inspired us.

Our work was to celebrate that Bright Space
Where all of us experienced the joys of every individual

But a time came when knowing all there was to know was not enough
Being together limited what we could know
And there was no way to learn anything more
Unless we came here on our own to experience the light and the dark of our individual lives.

We remember vaguely the Bright Space and the happiness we felt when we were all together
We remember vaguely our association one with another in that glorious light.

When we bask in the light of the day,
We recapture a bit of the joy we once had,

When we struggle in the darkness, we are reminded of the journey we are making

To learn all that we can learn
Until our journey is finished
And we return to that Bright Space to add our voice
With our own experiences.

Then we will truly know all there is to know
And the light within us will compliment the Bright Space
And we will no longer have to live on borrowed light.

Bright Space

by Dane Allred

Keys

We wander through life wondering why we are here.
Walking down our own road
We look for answers to the many questions
Filling our minds.

What is the key to finding our purpose?

When we left the Bright Space
We forgot all that we knew.
We forgot we were all together
Waiting for a chance to be here now.

Hoping to accomplish all we were sent to do
Hoping to remember we are all working toward the same goal – returning to the Bright Space
So we can all share what we have learned.

We knew all there was to know before we came here.
But unless we tried this stuff called life on our own, That shared experience was not enough.

As we realized we needed to experience
This world on our own,
The key to our success was to forget all that we had known.
To venture on our own.
To find our own way.

But we are here together
You may be the key to my success
Or I may be your key
To unlocking the reason you are here.

Billions of individual stories circling on this spinning marble
Wondering about our futures
Considering our part
Hoping to make a difference we lived here.

But remembering we were once together
Might be the key to end the fighting
The tension
The conflict.

Problems we encounter need our solutions
And the best news is our solutions
Are fellow travelers with us.

Turn to those around you to find the key
To those thorny problems you may be facing.

The key to your success may be only a step or two away.
One or two steps in physical space
Or a step or two searching the wide world.

If you wander wondering why you are here,
Look around yourself as you walk that road.

I was there with you.
You were there with me.
We are here to learn all that we can learn
And return to know all that we can know.

Bright Space -- Ultimatum

Bright Space
by Dane Allred

Ultimatum

We were given a challenge.
We thought we knew all there was to know.
We were content in the Bright Space.
But then we discovered there was more to know.

The only way to know all there was to know was to come here.
Alone and apart from all we knew there.

We would have to leave each other
And the comfort we knew in the Bright Space.

Apart we would be able to experience what we could not experience together.
We were given an ultimatum.

Stay together, peaceful, content, happy in our ignorance,
Or leave that place for the unknown.

To stay or leave.

When given a choice to try something new, to go to the unknown
Not knowing what we would face, if there would be happiness
Waiting for us, or disappointment.

Without assurances, without a guarantee,
We went bravely into our future
Hoping to find out what we could do,
What we could learn.

When we face those same kinds of decisions today,
We experience the doubt we felt back then.
The fear of the unknown sometimes keeps us in the safe place.
The place we know
The place we have always known.

That fear keeps us waiting, undecisive, unable to explore
What could be
What might be
What we might find in our future.

But as we bravely face our future,
Much like we faced the decision to come here
And do all we were meant to do
To accomplish all we were meant to accomplish
We can look to our past decisions to help us know
What to do tomorrow.

When we step one step into that future,
We will find those same friends we knew there.

We will feel the connection, and together, we will be able to
Learn all there is to know,
And be together again.

But this time we will have learned all there is to know
Because we accepted the challenge.

The peace, happiness and joy we knew there will be ours again.

Tension -- Bright Space

Go to Abundance for more selections by Dane Allred, including other episodes from Bright Space, plus lots more!!

Tension
by Dane Allred

What is that tension between you and I?

The separateness we feel
Knowing we are alone in this world
And though you seem to be someone else who is struggling to find your way
It really feels like we are by ourselves,
Peering down the road without knowing what is ahead
But stepping forward a little each day.

But if we really pay attention to that other someone
Who shares this space with us right now,
We can see they are more like us than different.

Then the feeling of knowing, familiarity,
A comfortableness with each other can happen
When we stop to ignore the outer shell of insecurity
We all carry about with us.

When that barrier is broken
The scales fall from our eyes
We see each other for what we really are.

We are the same,
And we were together before in that Bright Space
Wondering how we could learn more,
Do more,
Experience more than when we were at one.

When we decided to become individuals
A separate person apart from each other
Unable to share all that could be known,
All that ever was and all that every will be,
We knew there would be a feeling of being alone and apart.
We would feel unknown, and see others as unknowing,
Loneliness, pain and suffering would accompany our journey,
And we would forget all that we had learned,
So we could learn more here and now.

But we are all fellow travelers in search
Of all that can be learned as we follow our individual paths.
We are the universe, trying to find out all that can be known,
All that can be experienced
Both by ourselves
And when we break down the walls
All that can be accomplished and learned when we work with others.

Striving each day to learn,
So that when we return to that Bright Space,
We will revel in the progress we have made,
Searching all by ourselves,
But never really being alone.
